The Teacher and Student Success Act (TSSA) was created for the purpose of improving school performance and student academic achievement. The JSD Board’s TSSA Framework establishes three priorities schools are to use in developing a TSSA Plan. The priorities include coaching, professional development, and school-based initiatives.
Each school has a *personally-created School Planning folder in Google Drive that includes both last year’s and this year’s plans. TSSA Plans and the School Planning Folder can be accessed from 2020-2021 School Plan Links. Use the 2020-2021 School Planning Tool to begin your plan. Following the School Planning Tool will ensure compliance with TSSA requirements. Please note that until an official District allocation has been received from USBE, schools are asked to use the estimate provided previously.
The first tab in the School Planning Tool labeled “TSSA Overview and Checklist” provides guidelines and a checklist for completing plans. A quick checklist is provided below. The actual plan is found in the tab labeled “TSSA Plan.”
Quick TSSA Plan Checklist
The plan will be reviewed with assigned AOS during the end-of-year check out.
If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your AOS. ZOOM Q&A meetings will be available on the dates below. Please feel free to “sign in” if you have questions, concerns, or technical issues.
*If your personally-created plan has technical issues, please feel free to contact Shelley Nordick by email or phone, 801-567-8122 or Chris Westra at 801-567-8657.

The Central Warehouse is now stocking simple surgical masks to be ordered by schools and departments to distribute as necessary. Please understand quantities are limited, so only order to cover immediate needs. Do not order to stockpile for future use, including next school year. We will be ordering more to satisfy demand, but your cooperation would be appreciated in the short term. If an employee has a personal mask already, they are encouraged to use their own personal mask.
Masks can be ordered by selecting stock #5800850, and can be ordered like any other inventory item available in the District warehouse. Quantities are packaged and available in bundles of 50 masks. Therefore, smaller District departments should coordinate with other small departments to avoid ordering too many. They will be made available, Friday May 1st.

Transfer of K-8 Student Files for Retention at the State Records Center and Permanent Archives
This is a reminder to prepare and send the “Dead files” of K-8 students to Planning & Enrollment in the Student Services Department by June 12, 2020 for transfer to the State Records Center for permanent retention.
Schools will periodically have files of students who have attended Jordan School District in grades K-8 and never attend grades 9-12. In the event that a transcript was never created and the student’s cumulative folder was never requested, the student’s cumulative folder then becomes the record to retain permanently as required by law. These records are to be handled as follows:
Non-transferred student cumulative/permanent records of students in grades kindergarten through 8 shall be held in that school until the student’s grade level is advanced to the next school level. (i.e., 6th grade records are sent to the feeder middle school and 9th grade records are sent to the feeder high school each June). Once at the feeder high school the record shall be retained three (3) years after the student would have graduated. At the end of three years these records shall be transferred to the Planning & Student Services Department each year by June 30 and then sent to the State Records Center and retained for 17 years and then transferred to the State Archives permanently.
The following remain in the file:
Examples of these files may include:
Please refer to UTREX to make sure the student has not attended a school within the State of Utah before sending the files to Planning & Enrollment for retention. If they are active in another school within the State, contact that school and have them officially request the record.
Please contact Student Services at 801-561-8183 with questions.

Traditional Schools: June 12, 2020
Year-Round schools: July 10, 2020

It also provides options for documenting required information but allows for other methods if teachers have already created tools that meet these same requirements.

Here are some updates to the Early Interactive Software Program (EISP).
Fidelity: Fidelity will be calculated as of March 13th. All vendor data will be gathered up until March 13th of 2020. This means that schools will not be held accountable for usage after the school dismissals.
Applications for 2020-2021: The window for software applications opens on April 15th. The state is requesting that only one person respond for each district. The programs supported by Jordan School District are i-Ready, Imagine Learning, and Lexia. If you want to continue to use the program you are currently using at your school, you do not need to do anything. If you wish to make a change to the program you are currently using, please contact Michelle Lovell by May 10th.
