Jordan School District EDUROAM Wireless Network Access – January 2020
What is eduroam?
Eduroam is a secure, world-wide wireless network available to the international research and education community. Eduroam allows any user from an eduroam participating site to get wireless network access at any institution connected to eduroam. The eduroam wireless network is available in thousands of locations across more than a hundred countries worldwide.
What does this mean for Jordan School District now that we are an eduroam participating site?
As you travel to other participating school districts and universities, look for a wireless network called Eduroam. If you see one called Eduroam, you can connect to it using your Jordan School District email address as the user name and your Active Directory password (the same password you use to login to your computer every day). Likewise, visitors to Jordan School District from other participating school districts and universities will now be able to connect to our Eduroam wireless network using their school district or university login and password.

Custodial Workshop Reminder – January 15, March 18 and May 20, 2020
The last three custodial workshops for this school year will be on January 15th, March 18th and May 20th in the ASB presentation room from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM. These workshops serve to train all the Head Custodians, and to update any new information pertinent to their positions. In an effort to insure that these workshops are productive trainings, the Custodial/Energy Services Department would like to address any ongoing, widespread problems or concerns that you might have. Additionally we are also looking for positive examples of individuals that are doing things right.
- If you are aware of any issues or concerns that you feel need to be addressed in this workshop, please let me know about them, so that they can be addressed.
- As a department, we are very interested in recognizing any custodial staff members that are doing an exceptional job. If you have someone on your custodial staff that deserves some public recognition for the exceptional job they are doing, please let us know. We are hoping that by having very specific examples, we can use these examples as best practices in our custodial workshop training to improve the service provided by all Custodian in the District.
- As always, I am also very interested in individual concerns or problems so that our office can help those individuals with their training needs in a more private setting.
Thanks!

Preventing Illness – Norovirus – December 2019
The Salt Lake County Health Department has seen a recent increase in norovirus activity and is asking schools to be proactive in their approach to prevention and their response to cases of illness.
The most effective approach is four-pronged:
Hand Washing: Remind staff and students to engage in frequent, thorough, hand washing.
- Wash hands regularly
- Washing with soap and warm water, and physically scrub for at least 20 seconds.
- Hand sanitizers are not an adequate replacement for proper hand washing with soap and warm water. Use in addition to hand washing.
Cleaning & Disinfecting: Standard cleaning and use of effective disinfecting practices are sufficient to remove or kill viruses.
Protect Yourself: “If it’s wet and it’s not yours, don’t touch it!” When cleaning areas soiled by vomit or diarrhea, custodial staff should wear protective equipment and follow universal precautions.
Stay Home: When Ill: Keep ill students and staff home from work and school for the duration of their illness.
Attached is a PDF file you may use to encourage proper protection against the spread of illness.
Required Crucial Policies Review Update – December 2019
Great news! As of today, 98% of licensed employees and 95% of classified employees have completed the required Crucial Policies review, which includes the new Code of Conduct training. However, there is still work to be done as only 36% of all miscellaneous employees have completed Crucial Policies. As you may recall, this Code of Conduct training is required of all employees, including sweepers (adult and student), coaches, substitutes, misc. student assistants, misc. classroom substitutes and all other miscellaneous employees. The Crucial Policies Review is accessed in Skyward Employee Access.
Reports outlining employees in your school/department who have yet to complete the Crucial Policies will be emailed to you by the Information Systems Department. Please notify each employee of this requirement. Our hope is to have all employees complete this required training by January 15, 2020. We will run reports again at that time and will provide updated employee lists, if necessary. If any employee listed is no longer employed, please email your HR feeder assistant.
Employees needing assistance in accessing Skyward Employee Access are directed to contact the Help Desk at 801-567-8737.
