As staff members change at each of your schools, it’s important to keep our SafeUT Dashboard up to date. We have been updating each school as new administrative appointments and transfers become finalized. If you have additional updates, changes, or would like to add anyone from your mental health teams to receive SafeUT notifications, please email Angie Rasmussen at angie.rasmussen@jordandistrict.org. If you need a new account added to the Dashboard for a new hire please include their name and title in your email. For any individual that would like text message notifications, include a cell phone number. Thank you!

Salt Lake Bees Employee Appreciation Night for Jordan School DistrictYou are invited to join us for a FREE night of summer fun at the Salt Lake Bees game.

Jordan School District and the Salt Lake Bees are joining forces to show appreciation to all JSD employees by offering free tickets to an upcoming Bees game against the Sacramento River Cats on Wednesday, August 10 at 6:35 p.m.

English Learner Student Profile Dashboards


The English Learner Student Profiles dashboards have now been updated with 2022 WIDA Access, Acadience Reading, Acadience Math, RISE, Utah Aspire Plus, and ACT data.

This dashboard is unique in that it offers an assessment profile of all existing assessment data for individual EL students. For a single EL student, the student profile dashboard will allow school administrators to see the assessment history for any EL student that has a WIDA Access score.

The English Learner Student Profile dashboards may be used to help determine EL plans, target students for specific interventions and support, or provide relevant assessment data as part of student support team discussions around specific EL students.

For elementary EL students, school administrators can see current and historical assessment data for the WIDA Access, Acadience Reading, Acadience Math and RISE.

For middle school EL students, school administrators can see current and historical assessment data for the WIDA Access, Acadience Reading, and RISE.

For high school EL students, school administrators can see current and historical assessment data for the WIDA Access, Utah Aspire Plus, the 11th grade administration of the ACT, attendance, and course grades.

We are happy to announce that there are two training opportunities available to Paraeducators in Special Education settings throughout Jordan School District. One is for para's new to JSD this year. A second is for all para's, including those who are new. Please see the following information as well as the attached flyers for more details.

*New Paraeducator Training:
All Paraeducators NEW for the 2022-23 school year are invited to attend the Basic Paraprofessional Level 1 class, which is required for all new hires, in-person on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the JATC-S building. If this class does not work for schedules, the class can still be taken on Canvas. This registration form should be submitted for those planning to attend:  New Paraeducator Training Registration Form

*Additional Paraeducator Training:
This training will help all Paraeducators learn more about their roles and responsibilities of being an instructional assistant as well as student behavior training. All paraeducators are invited to attend this training held on August 9th at Oquirrh Hills Middle School. The same training will be offered in a morning or an afternoon session to better accommodate schedules. This training is optional, will not be offered virtually at a later date, and does not replace the Advanced Paraeducator Training on Canvas for those qualified for Lane Changes. Clinical Support Specialists (Social Workers)


Each secondary school will have at least one half-time Clinical Support Specialist (Social Worker) for the 2022-23 school year. Each of these clinicians have a clinical mental health license and is expected to provide in-depth, targeted mental health services to high-need students at your school. They may conduct individual and group counseling, work with 504’s, and liaison between the school and outside mental health providers among other things.

In order to function in this role, each clinician will need the following:

  • Private space or office to meet with students and parents regarding confidential matters
  • Their own phone and computer with access to a printer
  • Access to Skyward and Panorama as well as other school-wide electronic programs and tools

School Clinical Support Specialists (Social Workers) should function as a vital component of your MTSS team, school mental health team, as well as other PLC’s as you see fit.

To support digital and personalized learning in the Jordan School District, the Digital Teaching & Learning Team is continuing the Digital Teacher Leader (DTL) Program. The DTL program has each school designating one person as its Digital or Instructional Coach. Our program is designed to build the capacity of the coach to provide support in the implementation of classroom personalized and digital learning. Networking Meetings for Secondary Media Specialists


In order to prepare and train secondary library media specialists to effectively provide services to their schools and to build consistency across the District’s library programs, several networking meetings have been scheduled for the 2022-23 school year. The participation of your media specialists in these meetings is appreciated.

The meetings will be held on the following dates from 8:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.:

Some reminders for renting a vehicle when traveling for District business:

1) Indicate the rental needs such as size of vehicle and length of time on the initial travel request form. This is how the supervisor approves the use and expense of a rental vehicle before the travel occurs.

2) Many hotels will charge to park a vehicle. Remember to include those charges in your cost estimates on the travel request form.

3) There are two state contracts for rental vehicles through Hertz and Enterprise. By renting through a state contract, there are liability protections for the driver. The District Travel Buyer will, upon request, make the car rental reservations under a state contract.

4) Rental vehicles reserved outside a state contract may add additional cost and/or personal liability to the driver. Therefore, it is strongly recommended rental vehicles be reserved on a state contract through the District Travel Buyer.

5) No rental vehicle expenses (reservations, parking, and fuel) can be prepaid by the Travel Buyer. These expenses must be paid by the person actually renting/driving the vehicle either using their P-Card or a personal credit card (for subsequent reimbursement).

6) Remember to keep your receipts when paying for pre-approved vehicle rentals.
