On behalf of Jordan School District (JSD), the HR Department will apply for a small surplus of USBE funds in Educator Licensing to support Utah educators seeking their professional educator license. In anticipation that JSD will receive some grant funding, HR will be contacting associate level educators who are in the process of obtaining their professional educator license and asking them to submit expenses they incurred from 7/1/2023 through 6/30/2024 while pursuing their professional license. APPEL educator PPAT expenses are currently reimbursed by school fund; therefore, do not qualify. All additional expenses may be eligible for reimbursement, if the employee submits their proof of enrollment in classes taken toward their professional educator license. This information from the employee must be received by December 8, 2023 and prior to the submission of this grant by the HR Department.

If you have questions regarding this grant or for a list of qualifying educators at your school/department location, please contact Brittany Bauer (secondary) at brittany.bauer@jordandistrict.org or Jane Olsen (elementary) at jane.olsen@jordandistrict.org.

Holiday decorations add a joyous and festive mood to the holiday season, but when holiday decorations are not used properly they can turn from festive to fiery in a split second.

Jordan School District would like everyone to follow a few safety tips when decorating to avoid a tragic holiday and keep everyone safe.

See the flyer below for more information.

  3. Attend regular refresher or update safety training sessions and relay pertinent information back to assigned schools or areas.
  4. Be prepared to train and advise in all matters regarding safety to include SRP and ICS.
  5. Keep records of drills and/or evacuations to ensure compliance with state law and district policy reported annually. Records should be kept and maintained at each school or district building to be made available upon request.
  6. Responsible to maintain and report school Emergency Preparedness Kits in each classroom including Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) kits.
  7. Maintain TECC kits strategically placed throughout the schools.
  8. Maintain the school’s Reunification Operations Kit (ROK) and ensure each is properly equipped.

  10. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by school administrators.

Any of the listed responsibilities are subject to change. Responsibilities may be added or removed by school administrators in consultation from the district School Safety Coordinator.

The School Safety Specialist stipend of $3,000 (for full-time status and before taxes/benefits) will be paid on the May 2024 paycheck.

The December Assistant Principal meetings will be held on December 7 (8:00-11:00am) and December 12 (8:00-11:00am). All meetings will be held in-person at the JATC-S. Two-Step Verification for your Jordan School District Google account will soon be required. You can take an active role in securing your account by enabling this feature before that time.

How to Enable Two-Step Verification:

  1. Go to Google's Two-Step Verification setup page.
  2. Follow the straightforward on-screen instructions to complete the setup. You can choose your preferred method for receiving verification codes, be it Google prompts on an iOS or Android device, text message, or a voice call.
  3. Complete the verification process the first time you login on a NEW device. Once logged in, it will not be necessary to verify your account unless you login on a new device/browser or clear your cache and cookies.

Why Enable Two-Step Verification Now?

  1. Immediate Protection
  2. Prevent Potential Issues: Minimize loss of access to your Google account BEFORE Two-Step Verification becomes mandatory.

How to Get Support with Two-Step Verification:

If you have any trouble during the setup process or have questions, our help desk is ready to assist you. Don't hesitate to reach out to them at extension 88737. Also, attached is a pdf tutorial or a video tutorial to guide you through enabling 2-Step Verification. Lastly, on the day that 2-Step Verification becomes required for your school, there will be support staff from Information Systems at your school to help with those that have not yet enabled 2-Step Verification.

We highly recommend that you enable this important security enhancement BEFORE it becomes mandatory, as you may lose access to your Google account if you haven't enabled it by the required date. This proactive step will not only protect your account but also contribute to the overall cybersecurity of your school.
