The LAND Trust Plan needs to be a component of your TSSA Plan. Your School Community Council reviews the data and provides comments on the TSSA Plan. Understand what the TSSA Plan is and be familiar with the data.

When presenting the data to SCC present what is in place in your LAND Trust and TSSA Plans. Make it parent friendly with the statements used. Give time for them to ask questions. Make sure they feel comfortable.

When putting together your 2021-22 LAND Trust Plan be a brief as possible in providing all of the necessary information.

Use the Data Review to identify critical academic needs.

Create the Goal: Goals must be – Student Centered, Measurable, and Academic
Focus on student improvement and success
Identify the goal and fit your needs to the goal. Don’t just use it as a shopping list
How do we define success?
What will we do?
What do we need?
If multiple goals are in the same subject combine it into one goal
Keep the amount of goals smaller

GOAL:
One Statement
Such as – “Improve 8th grade science scores from 55% to 59%”

MEASUREMENT:
What is the method of coming up with the assessment? How will we know that goal has been met? “Acadience scores”

ACTION PLAN:
Have it be research based. Every expenditure should be discussed in the Action Plan and matched to the action - so it shows how it all fits together. Use:
* A bullet list or
* Outline

“If we receive more funds” – Be thinking of other things you could do, in current goals as well as additional goals.

Recent changes regarding Behavioral Intervention:
Can be a part of the action plan
No longer has a $ limit
Must be tied to an academic goal
Use data to show how it will support the goal

Regarding the website update
It will be more steam lined
The website should be ready for the final reports to be added by March 5, 2021
The 2021-22 Upcoming Plan can’t be submitted until the final report is done and submitted

Final Reports
Using a copy of the 2019-2020 School Plan as a template, prepare responses to each item (text) in each goal or question entered in the original School Plan and Amendment, as necessary.
Expenditures will not be entered by the principal but will be displayed for response and explanation by the council.
School plan expenditures from 2019-2020 may be obtained from the business administrator.

Your school plan is due to your AOS by March 26, 2021
The same deadlines are necessary in order to stay on track with reviews by the AOS’ and the approval by the Jordan School District Board of Education.

Please review the attached Land Trust Guidelines in order to place the expenditures under the correct categories.

This is a reminder for principals to complete their EARS funding request form. EARS funding provides an opportunity for schools to respond to the needs of their EL (ML) students. As you begin to think of ways to use the money, the Educational Language Services Department can provide training on what great Parent Home Visits look like, how to use the WIDA Can-Do statements, and how to strengthen Tier I instruction. Please reach out to Michelle Love-Day in Educational Language Services for any questions. Please use this link to request the EARS funding for use with your EL(ML) students this year.

JSD is hosting a six-week coding camp this summer at Copper Hills High School. Classes will be held Monday-Friday from 8:00-12:00 during the six weeks from June 14 to July 23.

Parents and students are invited to a Virtual Information Meeting on Feb 24 @ 6:00 PM. Please post the flyer (image file) on your website. Hard copies will be sent to each school - please hang flyers where students will see them.

The Assistant Principal meetings will be held at the JATC-S this coming Tuesday, February 9th from 8:00-10:30 am; and again on Thursday, February 11th from 1:00-3:30 pm. In the November JAM, it was announced that any and all websites in the domain of Weebly or Wix would be   blocked in January. This action has been delayed. Wix and Weebly sites will be available through July 15, 2021. This will give individuals additional time to transfer sites to a JSD supported website.

The Utah Legislature has allocated funding to the Utah State Board of Education (USBE) to use to incentivize educators across the state to achieve endorsements in the STEM subjects. The USBE will be using these funds to provide reimbursement for applicable STEM endorsement coursework for both elementary and secondary educators for courses. Funding distribution will be on a first come first serve basis until allocated funds are depleted.

Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG)


The Comprehensive School Threat Assessment Guidelines (CSTAG) have been adopted by USBE as “the” threat assessment to be used in Utah (R277-403, HB120, §53E-3-401(4)). While there is no implementation deadline, each school will need to have a threat assessment team with at least one (1) CSTAG trained individual. The CSTAG model utilizes multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), positive behavior intervention and supports (PBIS), trauma informed responses, and social-emotional learning (SEL). The focus of the CSTAG model is making decisions within a restorative framework for prevention rather than crisis response.

Student Services has arranged for some initial trainings and there is an opportunity for you or your designee(s) to receive CSTAG training. The training is a ‘trainer of trainers’ model and consists of two (2) levels:

  1. Level 1 – 8 hours of online self-paced training. ($166.00 each participant)
  2. Level 2 – Virtual ‘in-person’ training with Dr. Cornell (the developer of CSTAG) and/or his staff in late March or early April 2021. (Paid by Student Services)

The Level 1 cost per-person is $166 – which the school or department would need to pay. There is also an optional manual that costs $50 each. Each school should consider having at least one manual on hand. Student Services will pay for Level 2 training in March 2021.

Space is limited. If you are interested please email Travis Hamblin (travis.hamblin@jordandistrict.org) with the name(s) and email address(s) of those you would like to receive the training on or before Friday February 4th 2021. After Student Services sets up Level 1 training participants will receive an email with the information to begin. Level 1 training must be completed prior to receiving Level 2 training in late March or early April (date TBD).

Employee COVID-19 testing is continuing at the ASB. As a reminder this testing is for employees that are Non-Symptomatic only. Please remind your employees of this.

High school employees interested in getting tested should do so at their high school by contacting a member of their administration.

Extended School Year (ESY) Qualification Procedures and Timelines


ESY packets should be submitted by March 25, 2021. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS BEFORE SPRING BREAK. Guidelines and instructions are included in the memo.

Due to continued supply chain constraints and delays in the Computer Technology industry, most vendors are now urging schools to place their orders for Chromebooks that will be needed for this coming Fall no later than mid to late February.  The sooner we can process your requisitions and get them in line for manufacturing, the better.

We urge you to consider your Chromebook needs for next year, and submit requisitions within the next few weeks.

We currently have a vendor that is receiving intermittent stock that can get them here in most cases to you in 2-4 weeks if you have an urgent need, but pricing will be $20-$30 per unit higher.  If we can plan ahead, we can get better pricing for you with the longer lead times.
