Elementary Math Expressions Books – Buy Four get one Free
Dear Principals:
We have been asked to inform you of a buy four get one free offer for Math Expressions student consumable books. The offer is time sensitive and must be placed before November 17, 2017. The special pricing offer will expire after this date. The books are for the 2018-2019 school year, and will be shipped from Mountain States School Book Depository. They should arrive in the district warehouse before Winter break.
Items available for purchase include:
- K-2 student consumable books with or without student math boards
- (The K-2 student consumable books are not available to download or print. They are the only student textbooks available to K-2 teachers. These are also available in Spanish)
- K-2 homework and remembering workbooks
- (The homework and remembering pages are available to download and print online. These are also available in Spanish)
- 3-6 student activity workbooks abbreviated version and full consumable
- (These are in addition to the hardcover student books that have already been purchased. Many of these pages are available to download and print online.)

All of these items are available for purchase at any time of the year, however the buy four get one free offer will only be honored until November 17. The necessary buy guides can be found on the elementary math website elemmath.jordandistrict.org. Go to the teachers tab, K-6, and Math Expressions Orders 2018-19. Teaching with Primary Sources Academy – June 2018
The Curriculum Department is planning a summer Teaching With Primary Sources Academy June 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 2018. We are looking for teacher participants from all levels, elementary through high school. The Academy would go from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day and participants would agree to attend each day. The stipend for participation in the TPS Academy is $675.00 and would be paid either on the July or August paycheck. Teachers who use TPS with students can submit student work at the end of the 2018-19 school year and receive an additional $145 stipend. There are 19 slots for this Academy, if interested, please send an email to pamela.sua@jordandistrict.org by November 15.
The Classified Evaluation System has been moved from JPLS to Skyward 2017-18
The Classified Evaluation System has been moved from JPLS to Skyward. The evaluations will be accessed from Skyward Employee Access. Classified employees will no longer be required to complete a self-evaluation. Evaluators will begin the evaluation process and will complete the process by meeting with the employee to review and electronically sign the evaluation. Once the evaluation process is complete, the employee and evaluator will receive a confirmation email. A set of step-by-step instructions is included and will also be available from the JES website. For technical questions, contact the Information Systems Help Desk at 801-567-8737; otherwise, contact the JES Office at 801-567-8369. A schedule of work sessions to review the evaluation process is also included.

2017 Learning Edge Conference Opportunity
Administrators and teacher leaders are invited to the 2017 Learning Edge Conference. “The Arts: A Renaissance of Relevance” is scheduled for November 14, 2017 at the Provo Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. See attached flyer for more information. The Curriculum Department will pay the registration fee for one administrator from each building. Contact Amanda Hansen before November 5 if you are interested in attending. Spots are filling quickly!
Coaching Training Opportunity with Lisa Lawrence 2017-18
Several years ago, some of our schools had the opportunity to attend coaching professional development with Lisa Lawrence. Lisa is willing to provide coaching training for more of our schools if there is interest. Participation involves an administrator from the school and three teachers attending two sessions with Lisa. The dates are to be determined and training will take place dependent on interest. If you would like to participate in coaching training, please contact Noreen Samowitz at 801-567-8367.
