Department Administrators:

The FTE Audit process is critical in ensuring employees are paid accurately and out of the appropriate budgets. Like last year, the FTE Audit will be electronic. Below is the process we will follow for the audits:

Electronic FTE Audit Process:

  • October 24, 2022 – HR will share with directors and administrative assistants the FTE Audit Report via Google Sheets. Please review the report with your administrative assistant. The report will include verification of faculty/staff, FTE, title and budget code(s). Please refer to the “Instructions” sheet in the document for assistance in completing the audit.
  • November 4, 2022 – DUE DATE for the FTE Audit Report to be completed for HR to process. Check the “yellow” box on the front page to indicate audit completion.
  • THE BEST NEWS OF ALL – All corrections made on the FTE Audit Report will be made by HR upon return. Change forms will not be required; however, new hires not listed on the report will require the submission of a hire sheet to HR in Frontline.
  • If you are interested in meeting with HR to review/assist with your audit, please contact Brent Burge (88224) to schedule an appointment. We ask that you review the audit and come prepared to the meeting with needed changes to your audit.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

GRAMA HandoutAnyone with a GRAMA request must submit the request by visiting the State of Utah Open Records Portal for Jordan School District or by visiting openrecords.utah.gov and selecting the K-12 link.

For anyone who needs help navigating openrecords.utah.gov and filling out the GRAMA request form, we are providing an information card. Principals and staff can print the card and share it with those making a GRAMA request.

Here is the information card to print and cut in half.

Shift Differential – Education Support Professional (ESP)

As part of JESPA negotiations for the 2018-19 contract year, the shift differential was increased effective July 1, 2018 as follows:

Swing Shift – The employee’s shift must begin between 12:00 p.m. (noon) and 10:00 p.m. The employee must work a full eight hours. The additional rate of pay is $0.50 per hour.

Graveyard Shift – The employee’s shift must begin between 10:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. The employee must work a full eight hours. The additional rate of pay is $1.00 per hour.

If an employee normally assigned and normally working the swing or graveyard shift is asked to temporarily work earlier in the day in order to help cover for another employee who is absent, the swing or graveyard employee will receive the shift differential for that day.

Only ESP, benefit-eligible employees are eligible for shift differential. Please follow the current process to submit for shift differential pay.

If a correction needs to be made, a new scram document should be submitted.

School/Department Administrators:

With your great input, we have simplified the process for hiring licensed employees through Frontline. These changes include:

  • A video screening/interview feature
  • Interview documentation simplified
  • Reference forms simplified

Please schedule a training time to see these important modifications. This training is available to administrators and administrative assistants, especially those who are new to Frontline Recruiting/Hiring.

All trainings will be at the District Office room #129. Two sessions will also be on Zoom. Please bring a laptop or have one available for the hands-on training. For available dates/times and to schedule a training session, visit the link below. Space is limited in each session. Additional sessions will be added as needed.

AVOID DENY DEFEND (ADD) is simple response strategy that can be used during an act of violence, threat of violence, or dangerous situation. ADD is a continuum that doesn’t need to be exercised in any particular order. Always respond with the best part of the strategy that is called for based on the information you have at the time and your proximity to the threat.

  • AVOID the threat whenever possible.
  • DENY the threat access to you by LockOUT or LockDOWN.
  • DEFEND as a last resort. You have the legal right to defend yourself from harm.

All school and district staff members, and secondary students are encouraged to watch the seven-minute ADD training video on the Auxiliary Services Incident Command Web page, link:
Incident Command Website

Parents/guardians are invited to watch this ADD video as well. It is not appropriate for elementary-age students.

The Men of Promise Conference will be held Oct. 6 at the Zions Technology Center, 159 W. Center Street in Midvale for students in grades 9-12. If you are looking for an opportunity in growing leadership within our young males, particularly, the young males of color, the Black Success Center (through the Black Chamber of Commerce) is focused on programming to develop and connect this part of our future.

The Men of Promise (MOP) conference inspires students by speaking to their hearts and providing them with professional experiences designed to shift their life trajectories. The conference’s approach encourages students to change their path by shifting their habits and disciplines, thus helping them to help themselves…to achieve goals. Another aspect of the conference was to connect students with role models to help them develop their VISION, DISCIPLINE, and CHARACTER.
