Curriculum will pay for one administrator per school to attend the Instructional Leadership in the 21st Century Conference sponsored through CITES on March 23 and 24, 2017. If registration is requested before Dec. 22, two registrations per school will be paid by curriculum. If you would like to attend, please contact Noreen in Curriculum.

We have an auction on PublicSurplus.com which will end on Tuesday, December 6th. It will be the last one before the Winter Break. Please take a look and see if there is anything you need for your building.

Also, just a reminder that your school needs to do their surplus paperwork and turn it in with all signatures if you want to be scheduled for pick up. Please do not delay in getting your paperwork in so that we can see how soon we can schedule our next surplus pick up.

With the arrival of winter weather conditions, please take time to review District procedures for snow closures and delayed starts.

When severe weather is forecast, District personnel will monitor conditions on roadways throughout the night. Superintendent Johnson will determine if school closures or delays are necessary by 5 a.m. All decisions regarding closures or delays will come from the District.

No announcement means normal school operation.

School closure or delayed start information will be posted on the District website and through social media no later than 6:30 a.m. The information will also be broadcast on local news outlets.

Please remember that parents can keep children home when weather is extreme. We ask that you respect this decision and work with families.

Secondary Administrators:

Thank you for your help in the SLO process. As you are aware, secondary teachers had flexibility in administering and scoring SLOs, so some of your teachers may have already completed an SLO pre and posttest. The process for reporting SLO scores will be similar to last year, with the addition of several automated steps. Teachers will use a spreadsheet that has been programmed to guide them through each of the steps for recording pre and post test scores. The spreadsheet, along with instructions on getting started, is included. If you would like to become familiar with this process, please feel free to follow the instructions and add your own data to the spreadsheet. If you have questions about this process, please contact Holly Allen at holly.allen@jordandistrict.org or extension 88115.

Within the next few days, your teachers will receive an email with the instructions and spreadsheet. Please encourage teachers who have completed a pre and post SLO assessment to follow the instructions and submit their data through the spreadsheet. Though several individuals have tested the spreadsheets, this will be the first attempt with a larger group of teachers. We would love to hear back from you or your teachers if they run into any problems during the submission process. The Conference will be hosted by Alpine School District, with Jordan School District graciously providing space for the event at our Auxiliary Services Building (ASB).

Educational Technology Endorsement Program

The Educational Technology Endorsement Program (ETEP) is an intensive 1-2-year professional development program provided to a group of Jordan teachers by the Jordan Educational Technology department. It comprises a blend of evening face-to-face sessions and online learning in which teachers explore ways to leverage classroom technology in a constructivist, student-centered approach to increase instructional effectiveness and student achievement.

Objectives for this project include:

  • Enhance teacher instructional practices by using technology seamlessly in classrooms
  • Emphasize project-based learning, constructivist approaches, and student-centered classrooms
  • Enrich instructional effectiveness
  • Increase student academic achievement

This program is intensive, with participation in a 3 credit hour course required every semester. Each course includes 5-6 face-to-face sessions as well as an online component. At the successful completion of the program, participants will have received 18 credit hours (USOE or UVU) and also receive their Educational Technology Endorsement.

The district provides the following for each participant:

  • 18 hours of college or lane change credit.
  •  Participant must pay for UVU credit. USBE credit is free.
  • Educational Technology Endorsement on teaching certificate. (Participant must submit paperwork and pay fee to USBE.)
