Custodial Workshop Reminder – January 15, March 18 and May 20, 2020
The last three custodial workshops for this school year will be on January 15th, March 18th and May 20th in the ASB presentation room from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM. These workshops serve to train all the Head Custodians, and to update any new information pertinent to their positions. In an effort to insure that these workshops are productive trainings, the Custodial/Energy Services Department would like to address any ongoing, widespread problems or concerns that you might have. Additionally we are also looking for positive examples of individuals that are doing things right.
- If you are aware of any issues or concerns that you feel need to be addressed in this workshop, please let me know about them, so that they can be addressed.
- As a department, we are very interested in recognizing any custodial staff members that are doing an exceptional job. If you have someone on your custodial staff that deserves some public recognition for the exceptional job they are doing, please let us know. We are hoping that by having very specific examples, we can use these examples as best practices in our custodial workshop training to improve the service provided by all Custodian in the District.
- As always, I am also very interested in individual concerns or problems so that our office can help those individuals with their training needs in a more private setting.
Thanks!

Emergency Contacts in Skyward – December 2019
DATE:
December 16, 2019
TO:
Principals
Assistant Principals
Administrative Assistants
Attendance Secretaries
FROM:
Mike Anderson, Associate Superintendent
Travis Hamblin, Director of Student Services
Caleb Olson, Planning and Enrollment Consultant
SUBJECT:
Emergency Contacts in Skyward
The primary purpose of emergency contacts in Skyward is to provide a secondary method for contacting the parent/guardian (Family 1 in Skyward) when they are not readily or immediately available to the school. In most cases those listed as an emergency contact are not the parent/guardian and do not have the authority to excuse a student’s school attendance.
Emergency contacts may not excuse a student’s attendance nor check them out of school. However, an emergency contact may pick up and/or deliver a student when a parent/guardian excuses a student’s attendance and authorizes that person to do so. The authorization should be done via phone or email that matches information recorded in Skyward.
Emergency contacts (unless they are the parent/guardian) do not have a right to FERPA protected information. The school should not disclose a student’s personally identifiable information nor any information that is protected by FERPA to an emergency contact without written permission from the parent/guardian.
Please contact Caleb Olson (801.567.8251) in Planning and Enrollment should you have any questions.
